Membership declaration

Join Klub Strzelecki Defendu. Take an active part in training sessions and shooting competitions.

Shooting Patent

After three months of probationary membership, you can take the exam for the Shooting Patent. The club will prepare you for the exam, the exact date and location of which will be announced by the PZSS (Polish Shooting Sport Association).

Competitor license

After obtaining the Shooting Patent, the club will apply for a PZSS competitor license on your behalf. This document entitles you to take part in competitions and is a further requirement for obtaining, and subsequently maintaining, a firearms license for sporting purposes.

Medical examinations

The next step is to obtain certificates from doctors authorized to examine persons applying for a firearms license.

Application

Once you have gathered all the documents, you submit an application to your local Firearms Administration Division (WPA). We will provide you with the application template and the required documents. You already have the other documents you need. The police have 30 days to issue an administrative decision.

Shooting sport

Associations and federations

International Defensive Pistol Association is the governing body of a shooting sport that simulates self-defense scenarios and real life encounters. It was founded in 1996 as a response to the desires of shooters worldwide. The organization now boasts membership of more than 25,000, including members in 70 foreign countries. IDPA website
International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) is an international non-governmental organization bringing together 161 national shooting sport federations.
It was founded on 17 July 1907 by Austria, Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands and Argentina. The organization was originally named the International Shooting Union (French: Union Internationale de Tir). In 1998 its name was changed to the International Shooting Sport Federation.
Polski Związek Strzelectwa Sportowego (Polish Shooting Sport Association) is a Polish organization bringing together competitors, coaches and officials of Polish shooting sport, founded in 1933 and based in Warsaw. It is a member of the International Shooting Sport Federation.
Wielkopolski Związek Strzelectwa Sportowego (Greater Poland Shooting Sport Association) is a voluntary, permanent, self-governing sports association operating as a union of associations in the Greater Poland (Wielkopolska) region, whose purpose is to promote physical culture and sport in the field of shooting sport. In our region it is the local representative of the PZSS, which organizes shooting sport in Greater Poland.

Disciplines

Types of shooting sport

Dynamic shooting is the fastest-growing discipline of shooting sport. Around the world there are various federations bringing together dynamic shooters, and only some of them are reflected in the structures of the ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation). Most organizations were founded in the USA, but they exist in many countries around the world, and this trend is also intensifying in Europe and Poland. Dynamic disciplines are practiced in separate equipment classes and skill categories.
Federations have their own separate requirements for participation in competition, their own competency tests, etc.
Static shooting is the classic, Olympic shooting discipline. It is practiced in separate age and gender categories, held across more than a dozen events divided by weapon type, caliber or class:
- Air guns in the PPN (pistol) and KPN (rifle) events
- Sport pistol (PSP) with a standard stage (PST) and a rapid-fire stage (PSZ)
- Centerfire pistol (PCZ)
- Free pistol (PDW)
- Sport rifle (KSP) without optical sights or rests
- Standard rifle (KST), prone position, 300m
- Free rifle (KDW), also known as the Three Positions event
- Sharpshooter rifle (KW), i.e. shooting at a distance of 500m or more
- Shotgun events: Skeet, Trap and Double Trap

Act of 21 May 1999 on Weapons and Ammunition, which regulates, among other things, the procedure for issuing firearms licenses
Art. 10. 1. The competent Police authority shall issue a firearms license if the applicant does not pose a threat to themselves, to public order or public safety, and presents a valid reason for possessing a firearm.
2. A firearms license shall be issued in particular for the purposes of:[...]
4) sporting purposes;[...]
3. A valid reason, as referred to in paragraph 1, shall be understood to include in particular:[...]
documented membership in a shooting association, possession of the sporting qualifications referred to in Art. 10b, and a license from the relevant Polish sports association – for a firearms license for sporting purposes;
Regulation of the Minister of Internal Affairs of 26 August 2014 on the storage, carrying and registration of weapons and ammunition specifies detailed rules and conditions for the storage, carrying and registration of weapons and ammunition by:[...]
2) persons in possession of a weapon and ammunition for it on the basis of the license referred to in Art. 10(4) of the Act.
2. Weapons and ammunition shall be stored [...] in devices meeting at least class S1 requirements under the PN-EN 14450 standard.[...]
§ 8. 1. Firearms shall be carried in holsters or cases. 2. A firearm intended for personal protection shall be carried in as inconspicuous a manner as possible, in a holster worn close to the body. 3. A firearm not intended for personal protection shall, where possible given its quantity and size, be carried in the manner specified in paragraph 2.

Firearms and equipment

Practicing the shooting sport requires the shooter's own personal equipment.

You will learn what the APEL (Authorized Protective Eyewear List) is and how the ANSI Z87.1 standard differs from MIL-PRF-31013 — or we will simply tell you which glasses to buy.
Earplugs, passive earmuffs, or perhaps active earmuffs. Ask us and we will tell you which to choose, and why they should be MSA Sordin...
For rifles and shotguns: cases, hard cases, foam inserts, cut-outs, backpacks and more.
Handgun holsters made of leather, canvas, shoulder holsters, belt holsters, kydex holsters. We have our own preferred types, and even a holster of our own design.
After six months of shooting at the club, you'll already know what you want to buy, and you'll realize you don't have enough money or enough purchase permits. Once the excitement settles down, you'll listen to the arguments in favor of the firearm we recommend, and then you'll go and choose one according to your own sense of style anyway — only to admit, in the end, that we were right...
